We are thrilled to be partnering with children’s charity Starlight again this year for the Selkie Henley Classic. There is still time to sign up to swim for Starlight for free, but be quick as places are limited.
Starlight provide toys and games to hospitals around the UK and take seriously ill children and their families on fun days out and weekends away. Having the time, space and opportunity to play is so important, particularly when children are unwell. Not only does play help reduce fear and anxiety of being in hospital, but in some cases, it can even reduce the need of sedation and reduce the long-term trauma of treatment. Starlight provides the latest toys and technology to boost children’s mood, help them relax and distract them from scary procedures. The charity also arranges fun days out and breaks for seriously ill children, so they can meet other children like them, get away from the worries of treatment, and most importantly have fun. Something that families are not often able to do due to the cost and added accessibility needs, which Starlight takes care of.
With a fundraising ask of £300 to take part in the Selkie Henley Classic, you could fund three Starlight Boost Boxes, filled with fun games and things to do for children in hospital, helping around 150 children.

This year why not add a warm and fuzzy glow to your cold swim and ask family and friends to sponsor you to raise money for Starlight instead of paying for your entry fee.
If you are not able to take part in the Selkie Henley Classic for Starlight, help us to fundraise via our JustGiving link. If everyone reading this article donated JUST £2, that could fund a weekend break for 10 seriously ill children and their families to Alton Towers.
